Four Seasons Golf Club caters for all standards of player and is one of the best courses in the Middle East for both presentation and service. The centrepiece of this challenging Robert Trent Jones II design is the spectacular clubhouse, modelled on the swirls of a golfer’s swing. It really is a jewel in the crown of Emirates golf.
The course nestles close to the creek and incorporates 11 lakes, several small water features and a host of indigenous shrubs and plant life. Water is key to the personality of this environmentally sensitive course, changing in presentation as it moves from open water bodies to waterfalls downstream. The variety in its design, coupled with the wind and water hazards, test players’ shot-making skills.
Trent Jones II’s “Rivers of Sand” adds another layer of texture and design. Unlike a water hazard, the visually crisp traps give golfers the opportunity to recover from an errant shot. Multiple tees on each hole give a variety of angles, and change the demands of each tee shot. The course can be played from 7,303 yards down to 5,398 yards, while the fairways are generous for the majority of golfers, but narrow for the longer hitters.
“The holes I think players will particularly find interesting and challenging,” says Trent Jones II, “are the 5th, a great par 5 running uphill and through a water course that sweeps through it and ends with a lake near the green, and 18 where you’ll have to pick off a line you want and bite off as much as you can chew. The young limber backs will be able to reach both these par 5s in two but the wind can be very strong here so you will have to select a club that will contest with it, or if you are playing downwind you have to stop that long shot before it runs through the green.”
The clubhouse has a world-class golf academy showcasing the region’s only TaylorMade Performance Lab and TaylorMade MATT swing analysis and club fitting system. There are also five food and beverage outlets. |
